A must to see is the Romanesque Abbey of the St Benoit order which was founded in around 780AD, the pretty gothic church. Or why not picnic in the LArboretum, the villages beautiful park of which the River Argentor flows through with manicured gardens, flowered borders, water features and a maze made out of willow . Verteuil-sur-Charente (3km) has a most spectacular sight you will ever see when entering from any direction, the first thing you will see is the huge fairy tale Chateau which is set alongside the River Charente. Verteuil has 3 restaurants, 3 bakers, a butchers, general store, pharmacy, hairdressers plus a post office. Walking up the hill to the historic church gives you superb views of the Chateau & surrounding areas, also a must is having a picnic alongside the beautiful flowing river whilst watching the locals playing Boules.
